Destiny and Bungie.net will be taken offline today for planned maintenance, Bungie has confirmed. The maintenance will begin at 10:00am Pacific (1:00pm Eastern) and is scheduled to run through noon (3:00pm Eastern). It's unclear exactly what the maintenance will do, but Bungie notes that gameplay shouldn't be affected.
It will be affected, however, with the arrival of update 1.1.1, which Bungie says is also on the way later this week.
Destiny Update 1.1.1 is planned to deploy later on this week, after tomorrow's maintenance.

Bungie has been slowly informing us of tweaks and changes that update 1.1.1 will bring, and it actually sounds pretty big. While I'm sure we'll get some more official patch notes, some of the highlights of the update include:
- An easy way to view your Guardian's reputation with factions
- Forced matchmaking for Weekly Heroic Strikes
- A TON of weapon changes
