Tomorrow morning, Destiny will undergo planned maintenance that will take the game offline for several hours. The maintenance window is scheduled to begin "around" 8:00am Pacific and should be done around Noon Pacific, "if all goes according to plan." Of course, you know how tricky these updates can be — don't be surprised by some extra downtime.
Destiny servers will be completely down during this maintenance period, so you won't be able to log in or play the game.
Announcing the downtime today, developer Bungie said the planned service outage will help prepare for the arrival "of a series of updates planned for the next few weeks" and "pave the way for the progress" mentioned over the past week. In case you missed it, a good portion of the last Weekly Update was dedicated to an outline of future changes planned for Destiny, including new shaders, alternative ways to farm upgrade materials and more. There's also "The Dark Below" expansion, which is set to arrive on December 9, and improvements to the Iron Banner still planned.
"We know you’re anxiously waiting for all the good stuff we promised. This is the beginning of that work," Bungie concluded.
