Happy Holidays, Guardians! Xur, Agent of the Nine, is back in Destiny today and with him comes a new variety of Exotic armors and weapons.
For those of you maybe new to Destiny — perhaps it was one of your gifts from Santa this year — Xur is a mysterious vendor that pops up in the tower every weekend (Friday and Saturday) and brings a random assortment of exotic items for you to purchase with Strange Coins (collected by completing Strikes in the Strike playlist). Also, thanks to a recent update to Destiny that also changed the way you upgrade Exotic items, Xur also brings with him random Exotic weapons that you can upgrade with Glimmer.
This week, Xur can be in the Hall of Guardians, specifically in the Vanguard Mentor's Room. Here is the list of Exotic Items for sale, as well as the Upgradeable Exotic items.
Purchaseable items:
The Armamentarium (Titan Chest Armor) – 13 Strange Coins
Achlyophage Symbiote (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
Claws of Ahamkara (Warlock Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
No Land Beyond (Sniper Rifle) – 17 Strange Coins
Exotic Shard (Material) – 7 Strange Coins
Upgradeable Exotics: This section requires you to own the specific Exotic weapon, as well as the Exotic Shard which can be purchased from Xur for 7 Strange Coins on top a specific amount of Glimmer.
Crest of Alpha Lupi (Hunter Chest)
Young Ahamkara's Spine (Hunter Gauntlets)
Helm of Saint-14 (Titan Helmet)
Helm of Inmost Light (Titan Helmet)
Heart of Praxic Fire (Warlock Chest)
Sunbreakers (Warlock Gauntlets)
Suros Regime (Auto Rifle)
Red Death (Pulse Rifle)
Last Word (Hand Cannon)
Thunderlord (Machine Gun)
Super Good Advice (Machine Gun)
Gjallarhorn (Rocket Launcher)
Hawkmoon (Hand Cannon)
The best way to earn Strange Coins is to complete the Weekly Heroic Strike on all three difficulties. Completing the Weekly Heroic Strike on the hardest difficulty will earn you 9 Strange Coins.
For those of you new to Destiny, a lot of this is probably meaningless to you right now. For those of you upset with what Xur brought this weekend, apparently so is Bungie's community manager David "DeeJ" Dague.
For the record, Xur doesn't listen to me either. I wanted Obsidian Mind and a Thunderlord. I don't think he celebrates Christmas. #messenger
