Destiny's upcoming The Taken King expansion will bring some major changes to the game, for one Peter Dinklage will no longer be the voice of the Ghost, instead Nolan North will be your in-game guide. Another change will be the amount of available weapons, The Taken King will be bringing the biggest arsenal of weapons that Guardians have ever seen.
Destiny won't exactly be forgetting legacy content, but they are going to have Guardian's putting away their Year One weapons. The Taken King's gear and weapons will be replacing older items, because of their increased stats and new perks and Destiny players will not be able to upgrade their weapons enough to keep up with the change.
This gear progression isn't new, every time an MMO gets an expansion new gear replaces the old – it's the same for a lot of game DLC, actually.
“I definitely feel like some of our players are ready to play with some new toys,” says creative director Luke Smith. “And we’ve built a whole bunch of new toys. There are definitely some weapons that you are going to find better versions of – there’s going to be something that replaces that sniper rifle that you love.”
This upgrade will make the much requested gear transmogrification feature.
