Independent developer Destructive Creations would "love" to bring their controversial shooter Hatred to consoles. Although the game is only slated to release on PC, the small developer — in an updated FAQ for the game — said they would love to bring the game to PS4 and Xbox One.
"We would love to," the developer said, "but we're too small [of a] team to develop a console version."
While no console version is planned right now, the idea is that if the game sells well enough on PC, they could have the money to begin work on console versions of the game.
One thing Hatred has going against it, though, aside from its offensive premise, is its Adults Only rating which could put a damper on sales. Of course, given the extreme violence depicted in the game, which puts you in the shoes of a psychopath on a mass killing spree, the rating is kinda warranted. On the bright side, all of the controversy surrounding Hatred's release has helped build quite a following for the game which could offset any lost sales by its AO rating. Depending on how you feel about the game, that's either a good thing or a bad thing.
While the game doesn't appeal to me on a personal level, I respect the developer's right to create it. Although it may not be for everybody, Hatred is available for pre-order right now if you're into that kind of over-the-top, gruesome violence. No release date has been announced, but it is expected to launch between April and June of this year.
