I've been referring to Neptunia V (that's a letter V, not Roman numeral five) as Neptune V for the past several weeks. That's not incorrect or anything like that, but it's closer to the Japanese version of the game's name. So from here on out, Neptunia V (still letter V) it is!
Now that that's out of the way, let's discuss some juicy details about Japanese developer Compile Heart's upcoming parody RPG. Neptunia V will be set in the 1980s, and we'll see many familiar faces returning to the series. We will, however, get one new addition: Pururuto, who will be able to transform into Iris Heart during battle.
Despite the fact that Neptunia V will feature a familiar cast, Compile Heart will be redesigning the characters' appearances. After checking out the latest gallery (which you can see on Siliconera), I think a lot of the new designs are really cool. I especially dig Blanc's Famicom-inspired outfit (pictured above).
I was a huge fan of Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, despite the fact that (and possibly because?) I didn't play its widely criticized predecessor. Though it probably won't happen soon, I really hope Neptunia V is localized for North American PlayStation 3 consoles. Those lucky punks in Japan can expect the game to launch on August 30.
