Devil May Cry 5 domain has been registered, Resident Evil 2 domain updated

Rumors about an upcoming fifth entry in the long-running action-adventure hack-and-slash franchise Devil May Cry have been swirling on the internet for months now. Now, resourceful users on gaming board resetera have unearthed that a domain for Devil May Cry 5 has been registered on May 18th this year.

The company who registered the domain however is not the publisher Capcom but another Japanese company called GMO Internet, Inc.. Through further research it came to light that this company has registered many other domains of Capcom games like Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil 7 and even Resident Evil 2. This could be taken as solid evidence that Capcom hires this company for domain registrations.

Further cranking excitement is the fact that all domains of previous games mentioned were registered only shortly before their reveals. Could this mean Devil May Cry 5 will be finally officially announced at the coming E3?

Another highly interesting tidbit is that Resident Evil 2’s domain registration has been updated recently, this April. The Remake for one of survial-action games biggest, Resident Evil 2 Remake has been announced several years ago in 2015 but Capcom has not shared much information since, sadly. Naturally, the recent update on its domain are rousing expectations among gamers that Capcom will finally share more on the long awaited remake at the coming E3.

Legendary games designer Hideaki Itsuno who is responsible for all entries in the Devil May Cry series since the second game, had last made a surprise tweet on December 31st, 2017, excusing himself for not having released a new game that year but simultaneously teasing that development on his current game was “under climax”. Keeping his track record in mind, it was not hard to see why many assumed this secret project was indeed Devil May Cry 5.
