Devil May Cry 5 unveils brand-new Void Mode and bonkers Devil Breakers

Forking awesome!

Capcom brought some new footage for their stylish action game Devil May Cry 5 to Microsoft’s X018 event today in Mexico. The new trailer shows off a spanking new game system in Void Mode. Check out the trailer!

What is the Void then? Game director Hideaki Itsuno describes the new addition to the game series as a place where player can experiment with enemies, weapons, moves and combos. Essentially, the Void is a training grounds for players to get acquainted with the game’s mechanics.

This ranges from simply getting accustomed to the controls and basic movement, to the more in-depth mechanics like combos. By giving the player full control over the variables like enemy types, numbers and the player character’s weapon and Devil Breakers. The many different prosthetic arm options of the main protagonist Nero.

In this training grounds, players will get the chance to not only get good at playing the game but master each technique and defeat all enemies in style. After all, Devil May Cry 5 is pretty much meant to be played as a cocky and stylish action game. It’s about winning as cool as possible.

Customization is a key element of the Void

Don’t think that Devil May Cry 5 is meant as serious game though, quite contrary, the mix of cool characters and outright comedic moments is what made the series a cult phenomenon in the first place.

The newest entry is continuing with the tradition by offering a special Devil Breaker in form of Mega Man’s Mega Buster arm cannon. In today’s new video, we get to see some nice attention to detail. When the Mega Buster is equipped, Nero’s animations will change to Mega Man-inspired moveset. Another new Devil Breaker shown today, is the Pasta Breaker. A wacky robotic arm with a fork attached at its tip. It’ll be interesting to see skilled players use these exotic gears in unexpected ways come next year.

Devil May Cry 5 is slated to arrive on March 8th, 2019 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
