As a new generation of athletes enters the NFL, a generation more familiar with video games, it's becoming more common to see players complain about their ratings in Madden.
It seems this year in particular players and teams are more vocal than ever. First we saw the Seahawks complain over one measly point in Marshawn Lynch's Trucking — despite him being the best running back in the game (and then promptly get burned).
And now, fresh off revealing the top five wide receivers in Madden 16, we've got another complaint. This time it's coming from the outspoken Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant who, despite being the 2nd best receiver in the game, has taken issue with his speed in the game. Bryant currently boasts a 96 overall with an impressive 98 for Catching, Jumping, and Spectacular Catch. His speed, however, is a pedestrian 89, to which he responded (in a now deleted tweet):
89 does seem a little slow for the breakout star, but as one Twitter user pointed out, Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who is widely regarded as one of the fastest players in the league, has only a 92 speed rating in Madden 16.
Dez Bryant isn't the first player to complain about his ratings, especially his speed. Last year, we heard a story of one unnamed player who refused to have his photo taken for the game because he felt EA rated his speed to slow. This probably won't be the last we hear of the complaints either as EA has only revealed three key positions: Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, and Rookies.
