The new update to Blizzard's Diablo 3 introduces player-versus-player dueling and other additions to the game.
Players can engage in combat with each other at the Scorched Chapel, a new zone that features four areas (a church, graveyard, river, and lake) and supports up to four players, according to Battle.net.
"Our intent is to provide players a safe, opt-in location where they can fight one another for bragging rights (or maybe science) without the potential for griefing as it existed in Diablo 2," wrote technical designer Wyatt Cheng.
"Dueling in Diablo 3 is more about kicking ass and taking names in a no-holds-barred sort of way, and this design certainly allows you to accomplish that," wrote Cheng.
Death is not permanent, and you don't take durability damage while in the dueling zone.
Blizzard also used the patch to improve the Monk and Wizard classes, add rare crafting recipes and a new tier of gems ("Marquise"), and allow Monster Power support in public games, among other changes. You can read the full patch notes at the official website.
