After news that Blizzard plans to layoff 600 employees was reported yesterday, the company explained that the World of Warcraft team would not be affected. Great news for the long standing MMO, but what about the eagerly awaited Diablo 3?
Blizzard President Mike Morhaime, quickly took to the forums following the announcement, clarifying what these job cuts entailed and hoping to alleviate fans' worries that Diablo 3 will see another release delay.
After explaining that some areas of the company had become overstaffed over the years, Morhaime reiterated that many of the development teams remain "largely unaffected" by the cuts.
Morhaime emphasized the company is "continuing to develop, iterate, and polish Blizzard DOTA, Diablo 3, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, as well as other, unannounced projects."
"We'll have exciting news to share in the coming weeks regarding Diablo III's release date," Morhaime told fans.
We still don't know what the exact release date for Diablo 3 will be, but it's comforting to know Blizzard has no plans to further delay the game past its Q2 release window.
