Diablo 3 sales reach 14 million despite rough launch

Players may have whined when it launched to server errors and complained about the lack of endgame, but Diablo 3 has done pretty well.

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the action role-playing game has sold 14 million copies across all platforms: PC and Mac in June 2012 and most recently PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September.

That's a lot more than the 4 million Diablo 2 sold in its first year or so, but then again, it never reached consoles.

The first expansion, Reaper of Souls, is expected to release next year for PC, Mac, and PlayStation 4.
