Diablo 3 servers back online following rough launch

The much-awaited launch of Diablo 3 didn't go as smoothly as Blizzard, or fans, had hoped it would.  After 12 long years, Diablo 3 fans finally got their hands on the next installment of the popular series although many of them were unable to play the game.

Much of yesterday's Diablo 3 launch was plagued by server errors.  On several occasions yesterday, Blizzard brought down the Diablo 3 servers for what they referred to as "urgent maintenance".  They didn't say exactly what they were fixing, but the downtime caused some "interruption in communication, ability to log in, use of in-game features, and disconnections."  Basically, the game was rendered unplayable for the majority of launch day.

Users ran into several errors including Error 37: login servers overloaded ; Error: 75: 'Temporary outage of Battle.net service'; Error 3007; and many more.

Alas, today is a new day and it looks like the Diablo 3 servers are finally up.  We can confirm that we have logged into the North American servers this morning and actually played.  Of course, problems could still arise and we'll be sure to update you throughout the day if any changes happen or if Blizzard performs any more maintenance.

However, I can't help but think, if Blizzard hadn't required a persistent Internet connection to play Diablo 3, even on single player, we could have avoided many of these problems.  Due to internet requirement, many players had to wait until Blizzard fixed the issues before they could even experience Diablo 3.  You can't tell me Blizzard didn't expect this amount of hype for Diablo 3; why weren't they prepared?  But hey, when you've waited 12 years, what's another day?
