Diablo 3 to get new area in patch 2.4.0, Greyhollow Island

The last Diablo 3 patch that hit the game back in August was Patch 2.3.0, which not only brought an entirely new zone to explore in Adventure Mode, but also brought the completely game changing Kanai's Cube. Now, Blizzard gives us a glimpse at the next big content drop with Patch 2.4.0.

The patch will introduce the new area called Greyhollow Island, which can be found just off the coast of Westmarch. This new area focuses a lot on the themes of man vs. nature, which means players can expect lots of beasts roaming around it.

Since the new zone will only be added to Adventure Mode, the team will try to weave a story into the game by adding in journal entries that players will be able to find, and piece together the clues behind the island. Since these things are most likely missable, not every players will experience the story the same.

Senior World Designer Leonard Boyarsky explains that the storytelling method of Greyhollow Island is more driven by exploration than exposition. “We focused on less of a main narrative, and more on mystery and side story and having the player piece together what was actually happening.”

You can check out the video below which details the lore of Greyhollow Island.
