DICE has plans for a Battlefield TV show

DICE, the creators of Battlefield, announced earlier today that a TV show made by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content inspired from the Battlefield games is in the works

The official announcement goes something like "Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have optioned the rights to a TV series based on Battlefield from DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio". 2016 Academy Award winner Michael Sugar accompanied by Ashley Zalta from Anonymous Content will act as the show's executive producers.

The Battlefield franchise is know for it's massive multiplayer battles and the huge war experience showing off land, sea, and air combat and over 60 million players has gotten into the action since Battlefield's start back in 2002. This TV show plans to capture the sort of war experience that Battlefield offers and is know for, though probably without the t-bagging. The President of Paramount TV, Amy Powell has high hopes for a Battlefiled TV show

"EA’s Battlefield has an incredibly dynamic narrative, coupled with a loyal fan base, which will allow us to bring this exciting and unique property to the small screen. We look forward to working with EA and Anonymous Content and thank Michael Sugar for his tenacity in bringing us this exciting project."

The Academy Award winner himself, Michael Sugar, promises Battlefield fans and TV lovers alike that the Battlefield TV series will be of as high a quality that the Battlefield franchise has been and still is and the fact that Battlefield has such a enormous fan base makes it a perfect candidate for becoming a TV series

"Battlefield has a tremendous built-in, engaged fan base, making it a highly coveted piece of IP primed for long-form adaptation. Together with EA and Paramount TV, we’ll develop the Battlefield TV series with the same commitment to robust storytelling that has made the game such a runaway success for nearly fifteen years."

There is still no name for the show, other than the "Battlefield TV series" and no release date has been announced yet but the show itself will go out across "scripted television programming across broadcast, premium cable, cable and online". This also marks EA's and DICE's first step into the the world of making TV shows based on a videogame franchise.

For those who worry about the quality of a future Battlefield TV series there's not much to worry about, hopefully, Anonymous Content has previously worked on TV projects such as Mr. Robot and True Detective, so the project is in safe hands. Or as Vice President of EA Entertainment, Patrick O’Brien said

"Michael’s track record speaks for itself. Combined with his passion for Battlefield, we cannot imagine a better team than Anonymous Content and Paramount for this project."

Stay tuned to GameZone for more news on the Battlefield TV show and the next game in the franchise, Battlefield 1.
