Did Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 rip off Deus Ex?

So Activision and Treyarch today released a live-action trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. While the world reveal trailer for the highly anticipated game will happen on Sunday, April 26, today's trailer gave us a good indication for where the Black Ops series is headed — 50 years into the future.

Today's video didn't show any gameplay, but it did show us a future where "technological advancements will lead us into a world where only those who risk going too far, will find out how far we can actually go."

The video featured three minutes of clips highlighting mankind's technological advancements in bionics and genetic engineering. The whole thing had a Deus Ex feel to it, and apparently we weren't the only ones to take notice.

Eidos Montréal's Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Executive Art Director of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Art Director of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, published a series of tweets poking fun at Treyarch's move into the future, which comes a bit late.

It's not just Jacques-Belletête taking jabs. Even the official Deus Ex Twitter account got in on the fun, posting a "Throwback Thursday" Tweet that points out "3 years ago, PurityFirst spoke against human evolution through technology."

There's more though. Eidos Montréal, through the Deus Ex account, also directly responded to Activision's new trailer.

Nothing like some good ol' developer drama. It's not like Eidos Montréal was the first to explore genetic modification in humans, but you have to admit there are some blatant similarities between Deus Ex and the new Black Ops 3 trailer. What do you think, did Treyarch rip off Deus Ex?

First Titanfall, Now Deus Ex. How many other games will Activision borrow from? Then again, how many games have ripped off Call of Duty? The whole video game industry is one incestual pool of filth.
