Did Jon Favreau just tease a Lion King remake? Yes. [Confirmed]

If emojis are to be trusted, Jon Favreau just revealed that his next Disney movie will be The Lion King. Taking to Twitter, Favreau teased that he was "excited" for his next project and followed the text with a lion and crown emoji.

While this could mean that a Lion King remake is on the way, it could also mean that he's working on Robin Hood. Sure, Robin Hood is a stretch, but it does feature a lion with a crown and a band of heroes that can easily be made into human characters.

A live-action Lion King, on the other hand… Seem a bit hard to do (unless you make it like the play and dress people up in animal costumes).

Disney has detailed the film to be a 'reimagination' of the classic animated film and that it will feature songs from the original. It will be reimagined in the same way Maleficent, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book were.

In April, Favreau's live-action The Jungle Book film released and retold the story of Disney's 1967 animated classic about an orphan boy raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther. The movie was a blend of live-action acting and CGI action.

The question is… How do you make a live-action Lion King?
