NIS America has set a release date for Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness, the sequel to the strategy role-playing game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. It's coming to PlayStation 3 on October 8 in North America, both in stores and digitally.
Within the first month of launch, players can download a costume pack for the characters Laharl, Etna, and Flonne for free.
In Disgaea D2, Laharl sets out to tell everyone he's the Overlord of the Netherworld, but he's having trouble adjusting to his new role. Demons are rebelling against his leadership, and on top of bigger problems, some girl is claiming to be his sister.
NIS America introduces new features, like high-definition sprites and a Mounting system instead of the Magichange system, which means players can combine humanoid and monster characters during battle to unlock skills and attacks. After that, they can go back to normal.
A new master and pupil system enables one character (the pupil) to learn from another (the master) so he can gain new techniques and higher weapon proficiencies. Masters earn stat boosts in exchange.
The developer has improved character creation in the Dark Assembly so players can choose three personalities for each character. It's also added two generic classes, the Male Angel and the Sea Angel. The Cheat Shop allows players to change how much gold and experience they receive and even break the level limit.
NIS America is also planning additional downloadable content, including a Raspberyl character.
