As we wait for the release of Dishonored 2 on November 11th, Arkane Studios' co-creative director sat down for an interview with Eurogamer (seen below) to talk about the upcoming game.
When Arkane Studios developed and released the original Dishonored game back in 2012, they weren't thinking about sequels.
"We didn't know there would be a sequel so we weren't thinking about it. We weren't planning for the future, you know, leaving seeds," said Smith. "We could've just done a quick sequel, where we like 'Hey Corvo has another adventure, he's in trouble again, it's a year later, all Corvo.'"
Instead of taking the easy path, Arkane studios looked towards the future and once you choose your characters in Dishonored 2, you won't be looking back.
"For a few minutes, you play as Emily no matter what, and you see Corvo. You have a scene with Corvo in the throne room and then there's an inciting incident and you make a decision at that point," explained Smith. "You choose either Emily or Corvo and then you play that character until the end of the game and you leave the other character behind"
After the decision do Emily and Corvo's paths cross?
"No, I don't want to give a spoiler, but you leave the other character behind."
The entire interview isn't simply focused on the available protagonists, Smith covered some of the finer aspects of the game as well.
