Dishonored is one of those games that has spawned a hardcore masochistic sect of fans that enjoy making things as difficult as humanly possible for themselves. Naturally, the developers at Arkane Studios are well aware of this fact and have been cooking up a little something that should make these hardcore fans quite happy. In a new post on Bethesda's website, an announcement was made in regards to a new Custom Difficulty mode that is being added to the game on all platforms.
The new mode will launch first as a Steam Beta later this week on January 18th and will release on all platforms starting on January 23rd. Players will be treated to a feature called "Iron Mode," which injects permadeath into the game and prevents players from manually saving or loading, forcing them to live (or die) with their consequences.
The Custom Difficulty feature doesn't just handle how hard the game is straight up; it also comes with a variety of sliders that lets players tailor certain aspects of the game to fit their playstyle. The example Bethesda gives is that a Stealth player will find a slider that handles how well their character can lean out from behind a barrier when moving around. There's also another one that controls the amount of time it takes for Sleep Darts to take effect; so suffice it to say, there won't be a shortage of options for you to play around with.
