Dishonored 2 QA testers are doing things devs didn’t even think of

I probably won't be able to do anything cool...

Dishonored was praised for it's gameplay that allowed players to combine powers and weapons to kill enemies in creative ways, and it looks as if the highly anticipated sequel is going to take that gameplay to new levels.

QA testers for the stealth-action game are combing their powers in such unique ways that they are surprising developers. In an interview with OXM, director of the game, Harvey Smith, described an example of one of the crazy combinations of powers he has seen in testing. According to Smith, one of the two protagonists, Emily Kaldwin, has a power called "Domino" that allows the player to link together a chain of enemies, when you kill one enemy the rest of the enemies linked together will die, like a domino effect. Another power called Doppleganger, which allows players to spawn a doppelganger of themselves. One player decided to combine the two powers.

"She just assassinates [the doppelganger]. And all three of the other guys drop," explained Smith. "We had no idea this was possible, we never planned this. It's just one of those systemic game mechanic interactions that clever, creative players figure out as they start to experiment."

Lead designer on Dishonored 2 Dinga Bakaba saw another unique combination of weapons and powers as well.

"Someone at Arkane came to me a while back with a question: 'Should spring razormines be triggered by your doppelganger?'" said Bakaba. "Usually I don't answer those questions except to say, 'Why do you ask?' And he said, 'I summoned my doppelganger and I tried to place a mine nearby because I wanted to do a trap, but I actually put the mine on the doppelganger.' So when the enemy arrives they run after her and–bam! When they catch up, they explode in gibs."

Clearly Dishonored 2 will be a fun and crazy game that allows players to use their imagination. The game releases November 11th and will have a series of books and comics released prior to the game that give futher backstory to the game.
