Disney hints at upcoming ‘big title’; Is it Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX?

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, which was revealed during the Tokyo Game Show last week, is currently only scheduled to release in a Japan, but a new report has us believing the HD remake could see a release in the West during the second half of next year.

According to Business Insider, Disney Interactive's CFO Jay Rasulo explained that next year would see two big releases. One of those is Epic Mickey 2; the other release is a mystery, however. Or is it?

"We start the year right out with a big title "Epic Mickey 2," and another big title that hasn't been announced yet, but coming mid-year, and continuing to grow in the social space," Rasulo teased.

Business Insider seems to believe that the unannounced title could be Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, the upcoming title that bundles and Kingdom Hearts remake along with portable titles Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days. Although Disney has several high profile movies releasing throughout the year (Wreck-It Ralph, Monsters U), Business Insider feels that none of them carry enough weight to appeal to the mass market in the video game industry.

Although none of those films could justify the "big" prefix in terms of game tie-ins, Kingdom Hearts HD seems to fit the bill perfectly. It appears Rasulo is referring to the company's financial year which runs from October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013. With Epic Mickey 2 due out November 18, the unannounced title should launch sometime in Spring of next year, which just so happens to be when Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX arrives in Japan.

Whatever the title is, Disney has to hope it's a big one. Although the Walt Disney Company achieved the largest quarterly earnings in the history of the company, Disney Interactive — the gaming portion of the company — was the only portion of the company to operate at a loss.
