Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes was originally announced for a fall release, but thanks to Disney Infinity Toy Box TV, the official weekly webcast, we now have what appears to be a more specific launch window. While we still don't have a specific release date, executive producer John Vignocchi has revealed that the next chapter in Disney Infinity will release this September.
"Definitely check out all the Avengers that are going to be part of the 2.0 edition of Disney Infinity out this September," Vignocchi says at the 8:28 mark in the video.
If true, the release window actually differs from what D23, the Official Disney fan club, stated. In a now-removed post, D23 announced that Disney Infinity 2.0 would release sometime in August 2014, which actually makes sense given that the original Disney Infinity also released in August. However, in a follow-up post, the fan club stated they "erroneously reported about the launch."
So as always, take this new release window with a grain of salt as the announcement doesn't officially come from Disney Interactive. With E3 right around the corner, hopefully we learn the actual release date sooner rather than later.
As revealed earlier this week, Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes is the next iteration of the wildly popular game that brings toy characters from various Disney universes to life in a digital sandbox that is limited only by your imagination. As the name suggests, the new game brings Marvel characters into the mix. Confirmed Marvel characters so far include Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, The Hulk and Hawkeye. However, the trailer released alongside the announcement also hinted towards additional characters like Maleficent (who has a movie coming out starring Angelina Jolie) and Merida from Brave.
