Han Solo has become one of the most iconic characters throughout all types of movies, in fact, he is so popular that over 2,500 actors tried out for the role, breaking the record for the biggest casting call ever.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has narrowed down to 3 actors — Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman and Eddie the Eagle). These three actors were reportedly pulled from the last casting call which had up to 10 actors including actors like Miles Teller (Fantastic Four), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars).
With Rogue One set between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope, it would make this new Han Solo age appropriate for a cameo. As Variety noted, Disney and Marvel applied the same strategy with their new Spider-Man, casting Tom Holland early in order for him to cameo in Captain America: Civil War before appearing in his own standalone film.
The young Han Solo spinoff movie is scheduled to hit theaters in 2018.
