In what is perhaps the worst kept secret in Marvel, Doctor Strange has been officially confirmed to appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok film releasing later this year.
Disney revealed the information in a post detailing what they were excited about for 2017, where they wrote the following:
“If you need even more intergalactic, world-saving action, ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.”
In the Doctor Strange movie last year, the Sorcerer Supreme was in a post-credits scene with Thor and the best beer mug ever. Strange agreed to help Thor find Odin and that's where the scene ended, leaving people to think, of course, this would occur in Ragnarok. There were also teases from the set while filming which led to postings of Chris Hemsworth holding pictures of Doctor Strange's address.
Thor: Ragnarok will heavily focus on the Planet Hulk storyline, seeing Mark Ruffalo's green giant fight as a gladiator in an outer realm. Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster) and Kate Blanchett (Hera) are also cast in the film. Blanchett is one of the few rumored to be holding the remaining Soul infinity stone as well. Other rumors include Heimdall and an appearance by Adam Warlock, the original holder of the stone in the comics. Warlock has been teased multiple times in Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: The Dark World.
We still don't know if the final stone will appear in Ragnarok, with other options being Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2, but we'll have to wait and see. Thor: Ragnarok releases November 3rd, 2017 worldwide
