Disney reportedly working on live-action Aladdin prequel, ‘Genies’

The film will explore the “realm of the Genies”

If a new report from The Hollywood Reporter is true, then we can expect another live action film based on one of our favorite animated movies. According to the website, Disney is reportedly working on a live action film that'll serve as a prequel to Aladdin.

As of now the name of the movie is allegedly titled "Genies," and, as the name suggests, it will tell the story of what happened to the Genie before he got trapped into his iconic lamp. Genies is believed to be setting the foundation for Disney to create another live-action movie, one actually based on the Aladdin animated film.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are currently writing the script while Tripp Vinson will produce through his Vinson Films. It's worth mentioning hat Tripp Vinson is working on another live-action Disney movie — Prince Charming. Damian and Mark are best known for their work on the remake of Friday the 13th. Hopefully they leave the horror out of this one.

Disney has a handful of live-action movies that are on the way. First up is Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book  which hits theaters April 15, 2016, followed by Beauty and the Beast  on March 17, 2017; Alice Through the Looking Glass on May 27, 2016; the Tim Burton-directed Dumbo; new live-action versions of Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, Pinocchio; and a Peter Pan spinoff, Tink, which is set to star Reese Witherspoon as the iconic fairy.

With all these movies coming out, let us know in the comments below on which one your most excited for!
