Disney shuffles release dates for Jungle Book, Pete’s Dragon

Walt Disney Pictures announced a lot of shuffling in their release date schedule, as well as a release date for the live-action Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson.

The two I'm more excited for are Jon Favreau's live-action The Jungle Book and the remake of the 1977 classic musical Pete's Dragon

The Jungle Book has moved out of 2015 and will now open on  April 15, 2016. The 3D film features an amazing voice cast that includes Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken.

Meanwhile, Pete's Dragon is set to release in theaters on August 12, 2016. Pete's Dragon will be a live-action/animation hybrid, just like the original, but unlike the original, this new one won't be a musical. And it takes place in a logging village instead of a fishing town. David Lowery is directing, and the cast includes Oakes Fegley as Pete, Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2), Robert Redford (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter). If you're not familiar with the 1977 version, go watch it. It's great. And the songs are great. And if they kept it a musical, Jim Carrey would be awesome as Dr. Terminus. The movie is about a a boy named Pete who has a horrible foster family. He runs away with a friendly dragon named Elliot who has the power to turn invisible. They go to a fishing town, shenanigans ensue, and Pete befriends a lady who lives in a lighthouse with her father, and who's husband is lost at sea.
