We are about two weeks shy of seeing The Chinese Room's latest endeavor make its way to the PlayStation 4. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture tells the tale of a 'British Apocalypse,' taking place in Yaughton, Shropshire on June 6th, 1984 – just after the cold war. Presumably this is the date where everyone goes to the Rapture and you're left exploring the community, as well as the lives of the individuals that once inhabited it.
Dan Pinchbeck, the Creative Director on Everybody's Gone to the Rapture explained a bit of what the game is about:
It's a game about people and how people come together, it's a game about change and how communities respond to profound change in their midst. That's not just about the end of the world it's also about the way the characters relate and the events that happen within that community.
What's happened between two characters in their marriage is as big to them as the fact that world is ending.
The video above goes into further detail and shows off the game. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture releases on August 11th, PlayStation Plus members will receive a 20% discount on pre-orders for the game before it releases.
