The US was never lucky enough to catch Beatmania fever. While we did get a game on the PS2 back in the day, it's a series that never quite caught on. Oddly enough, the PSP got a pretty decent Beatmania clone with DJ Max. I can't say that the series necessarily took off in popularity either, but we did get sequels, as well as the more hands-on title, DJ Max Technika Tune for the PS Vita.
Now, PM Studios is unleashing yet another rhythm game, though this time not under the DJ Max brand, calling it Superbeat: XONiC. Much like DJ Max though, players will once again have to match button prompts to the beat to create music.
PlayStation TV owners, like myself, can also get excited, since the game was just announced to be compatible with the device. This is due to the game being playable both on the touchscreen when using the Vita, or with a controller on the PlayStation TV.
Superbeat: XONiC is scheduled to release in October, 2015, and will feature over 50 original songs, some returning from past DJ Max games while others being completely new to the game.
