Say what you want about the new DmC Devil May Cry, but it has managed to do something not many new releases could — overtake FIFA 13 in the UK sales charts. Capcom's new hack n' slash action game has ended FIFA 13's run at the top and was number 1 in its debut.
As noted by GfK Chart-Track, DmC is Capcom's first "All Formats No. 1" since Resident Evil 5 all the way back in 2009. Unfortunately, as compared to previous games in the franchise, DmC Devil May Cry's sales look meager. The new DmC, developed by Ninja Theory, sold "just over a third" of what Devil May Cry 4 did at launch back in 2008.
In other news, FIFA 13 remains at the top, falling to number two, following by Black Ops 2 and Far Cry 3. Need for Speed Most Wanted and Just Dance 4 both stayed at five and six, respectively. DmC Devil May Cry was the only new title to debut in the top 10, though January is known to be a quiet time in the industry in terms of new releases.
