Doctor Strange exceeds international box office expectations by 56%

Doctor Strange opened this past weekend on the international market, releasing in a total of 33 markets. Initial reports are showing that Marvel's newest film has blown past all of its expectations abroad so far.

Early expectations were around the $55-60 million mark in all 33 markets. To the pleasure of Marvel Studios, Doctor Strange pulled in $86 million, a full 56% over initial expectations. This means that Doctor Strange has outperformed Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: The Dark World, Ant-Man and Captain America: Winter Soldier in the same exact markets.

We'll have to see how it does once the U.S. and North America markets open this weekend as they are 55% of the film's revenue base. The marketing has been intense for Doctor Strange so far, with two new trailers released earlier today in the 

Doctor Strange opens in North American markets this Friday, November 4th with some early releases on the 3rd.
