According to 'Doctor Strange' director, Scott Derrickson, the movie will avoid a scientific explanation for the way magic works.
The recent San Diego Comic Con was bountiful with the newest Marvel Studios content for fans to sink their teeth into. Front-lining the big reveals of the night was the newest trailer for the upcoming mystical epic, 'Doctor Strange'. While many fans are wondering how the newest installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe will introduce the concept of magic, considering the last time it was addressed was in 2011's Thor, director Scott Derrickson assures fans that there won't be a "magic and science are one and the same" explanation:
"It's not something that's easy to define. As magic should be. Magic should be mysterious. There's mystery to magic and there's mystery to the tone of the movie. Mystery is a good thing"
It would seem that despite the movie venturing towards extra-dimensional territory and multiverse angles, it will avoid the easy route of overly precise explanations and focus more on the Sorcerer Supreme's manipulation of unexplainable energy and forces. From what we've seen so far, there'll be a lot of direct visualisations from the comics like the trippy, psychadelic imagery from the original run from the 60's, which would be completely ruined with equations and figures.
The movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, with Rachel McAdams, Mads Mikkelsen, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
