Does the latest Battlefield 4 update fix the one-hit kill bug?

Yesterday, DICE released a game update for the PC version of Battlefield 4. Among the changes was a fix for the dreaded one-hit kill bug where bullets were sometimes applying their damage multiple times to a character. As DICE explained, "This could lead to firefights where normal rifles sometimes dealt one-shot kills, which is not as designed." The latest update was supposed to fix it, but did it?

"Yes and no," DICE revealed.

Over on Reddit, DICE lead technical scripter Mikael "sliced_lime" Hedberg addressed the issue, explaining: "There were two issues. One was an actual OHK (you shoot someone, they die from one bullet). That one was fixed."

"The other is an issue with how deaths are communicated from server to client," he explained, "which means you can sometimes appear to die instantly, but whoever shot you actually shot the appropriate amount of bullets.

"This fix for this is a server-side fix, and we are looking at getting it out as soon as possible," Hedberg assured.

The PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4, also suffering from the bug, was supposed to receive a game update that would fix this as well; however, for reasons unknown, DICE has opted to reschedule the update. The update is currently "undergoing some additional testing and will be rescheduled at a later date," DICE says.
