Karl Stewart, the global brand director for Crystal Dynamics, revealed via Twitter that the developer won't be releasing a prelaunch demo for Tomb Raider, which releases on March 5.
The reason? Story concerns.
"There are no plans to release a demo of the game prelaunch," he tweeted. "We don't want to spoil the story."
He also said there will be "no season or online pass."
From what we've seen, the game does look heavy on key narrative moments that define and shape this younger Lara Croft, but wouldn't it be possible to give fans the same gameplay opportunity that the media has had? Those are videos that have found their way online anyway.
Sure, players would like to see new areas of the game, but a demo is most important for the hands-on experience. It's difficult to imagine that Crystal Dynamics can't scrap together a few sections that won't spoil the larger story. What do you think?
