CD Projekt Red's latest installment in the Witcher series saw a huge release, it even became May's best selling game – regardless of the fact it released 12 days before the month ended. Considering its success on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, you would think that CD Projekt Red would be entertaining the thought of remastering the previous games for new adopters on the Xbox One and PS4.
The Community Lead at CD Projekt Red has revealed that it's a "really cool idea," but it probably won't ever happen.
The concept makes sense,(heck CD Projekt Red would probably make a bit of money off it too), but CD Projekt Red has another game they are working towards releasing.
Going back and remastering the previous Witcher games would take both time and money, both of which are being put towards the development of Cyberpunk 2077. The game was originally revealed in 2012, but was put on the backburner so that The Witcher 3 could make its release. According to the developers, since Witcher 3 has released they will be shifting their focus towards from crafting swords to crafting guns.
"You can craft swords for 12 years, but you might get burnt out. People might want to leave and go work on something else. We're excited to switch to guns. We intended to keep [the team] energized with Cyberpunk."
I think I can accept them working on a new game instead of remastering their old games.
