Don’t worry, Final Fantasy XV will not take up 170 GB on your PC

While Final Fantasy fans have been rejoicing at the announcement of Final Fantasy XV coming to PC, many grew concerned at word that the game would require a hefty 170 GB install. The figure came from a press release sent out by Square Enix, which also called for the GTX 1080 Ti as part of the game's "recommended specs."

Fortunately, it turns out that the figures were an error according to Final Fantasy XV Game Director, Hajime Tabata. In speaking with Kotaku AU, Tabata described the data as a "miscommunication" and that the game's final specs have yet to be determined.

Final Fantasy XV is being demoed at Gamescom 2017 using a GTX 1080 Ti to show off the game running at 4K. However, Tabata said that the final version of the game would be able to scale to "the same level as the console edition, maybe looking to going even further than that in future."

It's also worth noting that Final Fantasy XV won't be capped at 30 FPS, but obviously getting the game to run at 4K is a lot easier a process at 30 FPS, then it is 60 even with a nice graphics card. Final Fantasy XV will be getting some improvements in its PC version, including Dolby Atmos and HDR10 as well as improved physics on things like hair, fire, and turf.

Final Fantasy XV still doesn't have a PC release date, but the game is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
