Nintendo has delayed the release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Wii U to February 2014.
"In order to deliver the optimum gaming experience, we need a little more time for development of this title," Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation. "We would like to apologize for this delay and hope you understand."
Tropical Freeze was originally moved from a November launch to December 6. This makes one less Wii U game for the holiday season — a time that's key to determining the console's future, according to analysts.
Nintendo still has titles such as Super Mario 3D World, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, and Wii Fit U to launch in November. October sees the release of Wii Party U, Sonic Lost World, and the retail launch of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
