The first major expansion for Doom Eternal is available now. Titled The Ancient Gods – Part One, the expansion continues the never-ending story of Doom Guy to brutally end evil for good. Check out the launch trailer here!
While 2016’s Doom reboot was a surprise hit for many, the follow-up Doom Eternal had a hype cycle like few before it. How could it not? Not only brought the original reboot back the cult FPS franchise after more than a decade but it also proved the desire for old-school FPS action.
So, it was never a question if but only when new DLC for Doom Eternal would come. The Ancient Gods – Part One is the answer. Starting right where the main game left off, players get a new campaign in this expansion.
Your war is not over… slaying the Khan Maykr left an imbalance of power that threatens all of creation. The legions of Hell have razed the heavens, threatening to expand their control across dimensions. With the aid of an old ally, battle your way back to Urdak and decide the fate of the cosmos. Your mission is now your own.
By all means, all the Doom lover’s heart could desire is accounted for here. New locations, new enemies, and new missions make The Ancient Gods – Part One a must-play. Still, you can play just the expansion, if for some weird reason you didn’t play Doom Eternal.
The Ancient Gods – Part One is a standalone experience that you can buy and play without owning the base game Doom Eternal. Suffice to say, we still highly recommend playing that one. It’s an incredible FPS game that builds upon the strengths of the 2016 reboot. Furthermore, it improves and adds on pretty much every front, making it one of the best games of the genre in a long time.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part One is available right now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
