Dota 2 update detailed, no Diretide this year

Dota 2 has received a rekindling today, but in reality – it's so much more than that!

The long awaited update has finally come to Dota 2, dubbed The Rekindling Soul update, it is bringing rebalancing, an overhaul on Shadow Fiend, and a bunch of other things.

There's one thing it's not bringing though. It's not bringing Diretide. Valve is really hard at work on bringing some 'monumental changes' to Dota 2 next year and they just don't have the time to work in Roshan's taffy fiending escape. While that has caused a major upset in the community – at least they gave us fair warning.

Here are a couple specifics on just what The Rekindling Soul update will be bringing:

  • New sets for Mirana, Naga Siren, Magnus, and more.
  • Couriers can be seen now. .
  • Fantasy Team Season 2
  • Fight Recap is available study the statistics behind your favorite battles.
  • Map Change
  • Bounty Rune: Enhance wealth and speed the accumulation of abilities
  • Crimson Guard armor
  • Bloodseeker reworked; Two new abilities
  • Phantom Lancer reworked; two new abilities

Shadow Fiend was also overhauled in this patch, he got a brand new look and an Arcana item set that can be purchased. The item set, Demon Eater, brings a new base skin special ambient effects, new animations (spell effects and attacks), a special 'Raze' effect, it's socketed with a gem that tracks the number of heroes hit by a 'Triple Raze.'

Shadow Fiends Abilities:

Shadowraze: Shadow Fiend razes the area in front of him, dealing damage to enemy units in an area.

Necromastery: Shadow Fiend steals the soul from units he kills, gaining bonus damage. If the killed unit is a hero, he gains 12 souls. On death, he releases half of them from bondage

Presence of the Dark Lord: Shadow Fiend's presence reduces the armor of nearby enemies

Requiem of Souls: Captured souls are used to deal massive damage, as well as slowing and reducing the attack damage of nearby enemy units. Requiem of Souls creates one wave of damage for every 2 souls stored by Necromastery. The closest enemy units are hit the hardest. Requiem of Souls has a 1.67 second cast time before it is activated. Requiem of Souls is automatically cast when Shadow Fiend dies, independent of its cooldown.
