BioWare today revealed the finer points—among them potential partners and the general timeline—for the romance system of their forthcoming RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition.
True to the game’s 150+ hour playtime estimation, building relationships with followers and companions is no overnight task. “You could play the game for a significant length of time before discovering that a follower isn’t interested,” Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw explained.
In an effort to prevent dozens of hours of unrequited love, the studio also released a full romantic guide detailing which actions will set you up with which followers. Those looking to navigate the companion system themselves won’t be at a loss for challenge, however, thanks to the dynamic nature of potential partners.
“These characters have their own agendas and opinions, and the choices a player makes during the game have a definite impact on their affections. That’s intentional,” Laidlaw added.
