Dragon Quest Builders 2 is happening, coming to PS4 and Nintendo Switch

Dragon Quest Builders proved to be quite the surprise spin-off in a market where spin-offs can be hit or miss (but mostly miss). Given its success, it should come as no surprise that a sequel is in the works which was announced during Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017. The sequel will pass over the PS Vita, and will instead release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Some gameplay was also revealed, which was taken by the YouTube channel, RPG Site. Here's the video:

As you can see from the video, there are some notable improvements, including the ability to farm resources from underwater. You can also build blocks three times higher than in the first game, and travel has been effectively streamlined with a Breath of the Wild-style gliding ability.

Also, according to Gamestalk, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will feature 4-player multiplayer, a most welcome addition to a series looking to push past some of its limitations.

There is currently no release date given for Dragon Quest Builders 2, but stay tuned to GameZone for more details. In the meantime, if you want to get a better feel for the series, head over to the official GameZone review for the first game here.
