Dream Build Play 2012 finalists announced

Microsoft has revealed its 40 finalists for the Dream Build Play competition. The contest, which features promising entries from multiple indie developers, is split up between Xbox 360 and Windows Phone categories. There are 20 finalists in each of the categories, and a lot of the games definitely looks incredibly promising.

On the Xbox 360 side of things, a number of games really stand out. Titles like Wyv and Keep, Diehard Dungeon, and Bleed are just three of the games that look really cool. On Windows Phone, there are some really sweet-looking games like Snails, Dotty 2, and Pirate Cat. But that's not to take away from the other finalists, which also have some interesting game ideas of their own.

There are cash prizes in store for the top four contestants, which will be announced in September. Aside from monetary rewards, these devs may get the opportunity to make their games shine on Xbox 360 and Windows Phone.

I'm looking forward to seeing what titles win in the Dream Build Play competition. And I'm also looking forward to seeing what the rest of the devs do with their games, because I doubt we'll see the last of them here.
