Takes Journeymen Through the Middle East as a Frankish Knight Turned Thief
Toronto, Canada (July 25, 2001),
DreamCatcher, a fast-growing publisher of PC and console software entertainment,
today announced the North American release and shipping of The Legend of the
Prophet and the Assassin, a PC adventure game written by the famous Brazilian
writer Paulo Coelho. The North American version is being shipping in its
entirety: a two-part, 4 CD game in one package – Part 1: Legend of the Prophet
and the Assassin / Part 2: Secret of Alamut. In this cinema-quality PC quest,
the player becomes Tancrde de Nérac, a Frankish Knight on a mission to
revenge the false prophecies of a mysterious prophet, who spoke of a utopian
city of peace and harmony. Along his way, Tancrde will need to battle men and
mystical creatures, while escaping traps, third-person puzzles, or strategic
fights, in order to exact his final revenge.
Set in the mythical East of the 13th
century, Tancrde will need to search for the prevaricating prophet through
five different scenes, ranging from abandoned cities to hostile deserts to a
mysterious monastery. The 360-degree vision of the surrounding scenery provides
for a more than real-life experience, along with a cast of charismatic
characters that all have been perfectly matched with voice actors. -more-
Storyline Tancrde de Nérac is a
Frankish knight, who served the Templar Knights during the reign of the
Christian Crusader kingdoms. Upon their collapse, Tancrde finds himself among
a band of deserters. In these uncertain territories of chaos and pandemonium,
Tancrde soon successfully establishes himself among the deserters and is
renamed "As-Sayf," after the weapon that he skillfully uses in battle.
After learning from a mystifying
prophet of a peaceful city named Jebus and frustrated with living in a region of
havoc, As-Sayf sets out on a journey to locate Jebus. After five years of
wandering through harsh lands searching for this Nirvana, he reaches the ideal
city of Jebus to find it in ruins and abandoned. Standing in front of a desolate
city, As-Sayf swears revenge on the deceitful prophet that has misled him and
promises to expose his false prophesies. Now vowing vengeance on the false
prophet, the knight begins a challenging search for the prophet across the
Middle East.
