Dreamfall Chapters is getting a console release almost four years after the conclusion of its Kickstarter campaign

Better late than never

It didn't seem like it was going to happen, but Dreamfall Chapters, the continuation of the long-dormant adventure game franchise that started in 1999, will be coming to both Xbox One and PS4 on March 24th, 2017. The developers made a new post on the game's Kickstarter page, which had become a tad quiet over the past few months, but the announcement confirms good news that console players had been hoping for.

Dreamfall Chapters began releasing back in 2014 on PC and came out in installments called "Books," concluding this past June with Book 5: Redux. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will contain the game in its entirety, and for those who played the game on PC, Mac, and Linux, an updated "Final Cut" version of the game will come out.

The Final Cut version introduces several changes including enhancements to character art, animations, music, sound-effects, shaders, lighting, and even gameplay. What exactly the gameplay changes are, the developers did not say but mentioned that they would be discussing more about it in the near future.
