‘Drive’ director wants to make a Batgirl movie

Imagine a Drive-like Batgirl movie... So many long stares.

While Batgirl prepares to explore the living rooms of thousands with the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the R-rated animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, there are those that wish for more. Nicolas Winding Refn, the director behind the critically acclaimed indie film 'Drive', is dreaming about a Batgirl movie.

Sure, we have had Batgirl in a movie before (remember Alicia Silverstone), but let's be honest… We need a better (and newer) one.

When asked if Refn would like to make a superhero movie, he replied:

"God, I would love to make one, it would probably be great fun," Refn told Business Insider. "I just don't know when it's going to happen. I very much enjoy my freedom creatively, but I also would love to make one of those big Hollywood films that costs a lot of money and has a lot of people running around with cell phones and all that insanity."

With so many hero movies out there, the picking are slim, but Refn knows what he wants.

"What ones are left? You know the one I want to do? I want to make Batgirl. Let's get Warner working on it."

Refn has dreamed of taking heroines and putting them on the big screen before, Wonder Woman was another movie he'd have done if given the opportunity. Now that Wonder Woman is getting her own film, which he is not directing, we might see Batgirl get her own movie. Refn could be the 'Good Luck Chuck' for movies… Unfortunately for him that means he will never direct the movies he wants to.
