Last night, developer Evolution Studios posted a new update on the current status of Driveclub confirming that the "majority" of players can now get online, while also acknowledging that there's still more work to do to improve connectivity. The developer promised more updates are on the way, which should improve the online experience, but also failed to provide any real clarification on the status of Driveclub PS Plus Edition, the free, slightly stripped-down version of the game for PS Plus members.
"PS Plus Edition news will come as soon as we have concrete info," Evolution said. "Sorry to keep you all awaiting."
I'm assuming they are referring to concrete information as it relates to when they'll be able to make the PS Plus Edition available for download. It was originally supposed to release alongside the full retail version of the game on October 7, but the connection issues caused its delay. Although Evolution has done a fantastic job on keeping fans of the retail version up-to-date on the status of the connection issues, PS Plus members have mostly been left in the dark.
It's now been two weeks since the PS Plus Edition was supposed to be made available, and we've got little clarification on when to expect it. Hopefully the continuous improvements made to the servers in the next few days means the PS Plus Edition will release soon.
