Driveclub servers ‘hitting performance limits’; Evolution Studios explains login process

More info coming on Thursday

Driveclub's servers are "up and running," Evolution Studios confirmed, adding that they are also "hitting their performance limits," which explains the problems you may have when attempting to connect online.

In tonight's update on the status of the game, Evolution Studios didn't have much to say except that they are "just as frustrated as you" about the server performance issues plaguing the online racing game. Unforunately, they didn't offer much of an update other than explaining how the login connection process works.

"In case you don't already know, the servers are up and running but they are hitting their performance limits, so they won't accept new connections until one of the current online players frees up their space (allowing another to join in their place, which happens automatically and player selection is random)," the developer explained.

"If and when you get online, you should not have any connectivity issues during the remainder of your session. When you finish and disconnect, you'll free up a space for someone else. This is obviously not ideal, especially given that there are a lot of players waiting to connect, but that's how it's working right now."

The developer went on to say that the entire Driveclub team "have got their shoulders to the wheel" working to improve the sitaution. They are currently developing updates and upgrades to the servers, and testing them around the clock so that they can go live.

"We hope you can enjoy the game offline while we work to improve the server performance and get you connected – and we're sorry that you're having to wait to play the game online as we intended for it to be played," the update concluded.

Although those of you who purchased the full retail version of the game can enjoy offline single player with no problem, those waiting for the free PlayStation Plus Edition have been unable to play. In an attempt to alleviate the stress on the servers, Sony and Evolution Studios have delayed the release of Driveclub PS Plus Edition.

More information regarding the status and updates coming to Driveclub is said to be coming tomorrow, Thursday, October 9.
