With the release of Driveclub just days away, developer Evolution Studios has taken some time to talk about which wheels the game will support. I've never been a fan of using actual wheel peripherals for racing games which I'm sure is a crime in the racing community, but I just don't have a good enough feel for it. Thankfully, Evolution Studios has been working "really closely" with Thrustmaster on their new T80 and T300RS wheels "to make sure that they're perfectly tuned for Driveclub and PS4."
"In fact, we’ve actually spent time with pro drivers recently and we got to see what they could do behind the wheel of a Thrustmater T300RS in Driveclub! It was epic to see Sebastian Loeb acing almost every corner of an epic downhill point-to-point route set in Canada — and set one of the fastest lap times we’ve ever seen — on his first go. And watching Daniel Juncadella go up against near-perfect AI and stay wheel-to-wheel with them all the way to finish line was awesome!" Evolution Studios community development manager Jamie Brayshaw said.
At launch, Driveclub will support quite a few wheels from Thrustmaster with hope of getting support from "other providers" as the game releases. Until then, here's the list of wheels Driveclub will support initially:
- Thrustmaster T80
- Thrustmaster T300RS
- Thurstmaster T500*
- +others TBC from Evo
Driveclub is set to release on October 7 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
