As promised, developer Evolution Studios rolled out Driveclub patch 1.04 — a new update that aims to "improve server performance" in an effort to get more players online. Driveclub has been marketed as a social game, but thanks to connection issues that have hampered the game's online functionality, multiplayer has been a lackluster experience. Today's update is a step in the right direction.
According to the patch notes, update 1.04 "fixes scheduled events from occasionally disappearing from the event browser in multiplayer" and "fixes incorrect target times/scores from appearing in Time Trial and Drift Events." Perhaps most importantly, it implements "several game-side multiplayer improvements to reduce server load."
In a post yesterday, Evolution Studios said the update would be rolling out over the next 24 hours, so if it's not yet available in your region be patient. For those of you PlayStation Plus members waiting for the free Driveclub PS Plus Edition, well, we unfortunately haven't heard any news on that. However, today's update is a good sign that the servers are improving which hopefully means they'll start opening the game up to those who haven't purchased the full retail version.
