DuckTales is returning to television in 2017. WOO-OOH!

Might solve a mystery, or rewrite history!

In a surprise, but very welcomed announcement today, Disney revealed that DuckTales is returning to television in a new series on Disney XD. Don't pack those bags just yet, though, as we'll have to wait until 2017 before we actually return to Duckburg.

It's been a while since we've visited our friends Scrooge McDuck and his trio of grandnephews – Huey, Dewey, and Louie. The beloved cartoon, and four-time Emmy winner, originally aired back in the late '80s and early '90s, taking an entire generation of children on a wild ride filled with race cars, lasers, aeroplanes. Seriously, it was a duck-blur!

Despite being years since the show last aired, the series remains popular thanks to fond memories and an internet filled with nostalgia. It also helped that in 2013, Capcom came out with DuckTales: Remastered, a remake of the 1989 NES platformer based on the show.

DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation," said Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD.

Details for the new series are thing at this point, but Disney says it will star the "same beloved characters" as the old. This includes: Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Poe, Ma Beagle, the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack.

I don't know what adventures await us, but I'm sure life is still like a hurricane in Duckburg.

Now say it with me, Woo-ooh!
